Stories worth slowing down for.
Warren Brown is a Jamaican-Canadian interviewer, event host, and journalist/researcher. For over a decade he's put a mic in front of politicians, artists, and everyday people, hosted rooms full of strangers into laughter, and reported on LGBT life across Canada, Jamaica, and India — always chasing the human story underneath the headline.
A storyteller with a passport full of stamps.
Warren holds an MA in Intercultural & International Communication from Royal Roads University, and has spent over a decade working at the intersection of two worlds: the travel & insurance industry, and LGBT storytelling and advocacy. He's the former Executive Administrator of the Travel Health Insurance Association of Canada (THIA), a current Board Member of the Jamaica Film & Television Association (JAFTA), and the voice behind Journeying, his long-running travel and interview platform. His visual storytelling goes back further still — in 2009 he was part of the official photography team at the World Outgames in Copenhagen, Denmark.
That dual life shows up on stage and on the page. Warren has interviewed Air Canada's Chief Medical Officer and travel journalist Heather Greenwood Davis in front of live conference audiences, presented on LGBT travel risk from Toronto to Cancun to Charlottetown, and reported for Daily Xtra from a Pride parade in Mumbai during India's Section 377 fight. His MA thesis, built on the stories of gay Jamaican men who left the island for Canada, earned the 2012 Public Ethnography Award.
On stage, that curiosity becomes hosting: reading a room, keeping energy up, and making sure every guest — from a keynote speaker to someone in the back row — feels like part of the conversation.
Three ways Warren tells a story.
Whether it's a one-on-one interview, a live room, or a long-form investigation, the goal is the same: get to what's real.
Interviewing
From a fireside chat with Air Canada's Chief Medical Officer to an on-stage conversation with travel journalist Heather Greenwood Davis, plus the Journeying podcast — Warren draws out candid, textured conversations with experts, advocates, and everyday people alike.
Event Hosting
Co-Chair of THIA's Conference Committee, host/MC of three straight THIA Innovation Summits, and on-camera spokesperson for THIA's Street Smart Traveller campaign — speaking directly to Canadians about travelling safely and confidently. It's the same trust-building and safety-mindedness a trip leader has to carry into every group interaction.
LGBT Journalism & Research
Reporting for Daily Xtra and THIA NEWS, and researching LGBT travel risk and migration since 2011 — including an MA thesis on gay Jamaican men's move to Canada, recognized with the 2012 Public Ethnography Award.
On stage, on record.
A selection of conference interviews, fireside chats, and presentations from 2012 to 2026 — spanning Toronto, Ottawa, Cancun, Charlottetown, Grenada, and Cambridge.
